Skilled Immigration Overview
The Skilled Migration Visa is a permanent visa for skilled professionals from overseas. Skilled migrants are allocated to specific regions of Australia with the aim of filling gaps in the labor market in those areas. With a Skilled Migration Visa, you can live and work in Australia, depending on your application. If you are applying for an independent visa, you can live and work anywhere in Australia. If you are State/Regionally Sponsored, you must live and work in that particular state/region of Australia for a specified duration of time before you are able to move elsewhere in the country.
